What
is 4H?
The 4H Program began in the United States with the objective of educating youth on modern agricultural practices. In the 100 years since, 4H has expanded to over 80 countries to be the largest youth organization in the world. The objectives of 4H have grown as well to encourage youth in entrepreneurship activities and educating on topics from agriculture to technology to healthy living.
What
drives us?
The 4H Tanzania mottoes are "Learning by Doing" and “Earning while Learning”. The fundamental objective of 4H Tanzania is to provide entrepreneurship, livelihood, and life skills to youth living in rural areas. The 4 H’s represent the equal training of the Head, Heart, Hands and Health of every member. We train young people to learn practical skills, become active citizens, use critical thinking, conserve the environment, become leaders, and live healthy lives.
4H Clubs
There are 624 4H Clubs in Tanzania within 6 regions: Tanga, Morogoro, Kilimanjaro, Ruvuma, Arusha and Manyara. Clubs vary in types and members as well as the activities and programs that they conduct based on the needs of their community and members. Clubs are member and youth led, supervised by more than 1600 volunteer Club Advisors across Tanzania.
Mission
We advance the 4H Youth Development movement to build a world in which youth can learn, grow, and work together to become economically independent and responsible adults. For this purpose we provide pre-professional education in production activities, leadership skills, community health, and environment and conservation awareness for youth ages 6-25 years.
